About Tom

Based in Toronto, Tom Chitty grew up in the UK, worked for a year in Australia, and moved to Canada in 2008.

Tom has twice been nominated by the National Cartoonists Society for best newspaper / magazine illustration; in 2021 and 2023.

He is a regular contributor to The New Yorker, with over eighty cartoons published in the magazine. His cartoons and illustrations have also found homes elsewhere:

Wired, Esquire, Airmail Weekly, American Bystander, The Guardian, The New Statesman, Weekly Humorist, Current Affairs, The Hollywood Reporter, Harvard Magazine, Quill & Quire, Maisonneuve, Topic Stories and the Literary Review of Canada.

Tom has worked in digital media, design, and video production (storyboarding and animation), for a variety of clients such as Google, You Tube, The NHL, Toronto Blue Jays, MTV, Condé Nast.

Tom partnered with ATP productions to provide animations and cartoons for Google, including all drawings for their worldwide Good To Know campaign about online safety.

His short animation about Google's Privacy Policy was shortlisted for an A.O.Idesign award.
